Aerial Silks

We offer Aerial Silks classes for both children and Adults of all abilities, including beginners. Our instructors are provided by Aircraft Circus Academy, which is South London's leading circus school offering professional courses, and general silks and ropes classes for adults as well as other aerial skills. Aerial training is a great way to increase core and upper body strength whilst gaining a new skill. Every session includes a warm up before moving on to the aerial equipment.

Aerial FAQs

move
We recommend that you wear tight fitting clothing with legs and torso covered and bare feet e.g. leggings or footless tights with leotard and/or t-shirt tucked in.

If you have any cuts, grazes, warts, veruccas or skin conditions please make sure they are securely covered.
Avoid wearing jewelry and anything with zips or metal fastenings which could damage yourself or the equipment.

move
Nope. If you have experience in disciplines like gymnastics, dance, climbing and yoga you may find certain moves easier but, as the way in which you use your muscles in aerial is so unique, the best (and most fun) way to gain strength for aerial is by doing aerial!
X
move
You will start with a warm up combining cardio, conditioning and dynamic stretching to make sure all your joints are fully warm. You then move onto the equipment to learn climbs and strengthening exercises before moving onto positions, wraps and (eventually) drops and choreography. The last few minutes of class are spent doing cool down which involves lengthening and stretching out all the muscles used in the session.

move
We allow a maximum of 6 students per class.

Our regular classes are all mixed level classes suitable for all abilities so you can come to whichever one suits you best!

We have 3 silks and 1 rope.

If you are late you can still attend class however you won’t be allowed to move onto the equipment until you are fully warmed up.

As with any physical activity there are risks involved, however if you follow instructions from your aerial coach it is as safe as any other rigorous physical activity or sport. Most moves can be practised low to the ground to start with and mats are always used under the aerial equipment. All our aerial coaches have at least 4 years aerial experience and won’t allow you to climb high or do drops until they can see that you are safe to do so.
