In late 2009 Camberwell Leisure Centre was closed for a long awaited refurbishment. Planned work included an upgrade of the Swimming Pool, wet side and dry side changing, Weights gym and a new entrance and Cafe area.
Subsequently the space that was used for gymnastics (known as Warwick Hall) was allocated money from the Youth Services project which was being built to the rear of the building. As time has progressed the project officer has succesfully found money to do a proper job on Warwick Hall. This includes for the first time wheel chair access, a new floor, a higher ceiling with more natural light and no holes! Also the seating area at the rear has been removed to open the space up. New toilets and office space will also be created.
The ongoing works have meant that reopening dates have been pushed back numerous times. We are currently expecting Winter2012 to see the final unveiling of a much improved space for Gymnastics.
